Would you like to help your child achieve their goals and build a strong foundation for a bright future?
What the heck is a "Learning Lab"?
I'm so glad you asked. The Learning Lab is a place for...well...learning. It's a chance to get extra help for whatever the student is working on.
Isn't that why my kid is in tutoring, to get help? How is this different?
Great question. The Lab is different because it's in addition to tutoring. It's extra time for your daughter or son to get even more help. This kind of support supplements the focused, one-to-one support of the tutoring sessions that you are already getting.
Oh, so we have to pay more for that extra time, right?
Nope. It's included in your tutoring.
Hey, that's pretty nice. But I have two kids. One will love this Lab, the other not so much. How will I get her to go?
Isn't it great how kids are so different? We think so, and that's why we adjust what we do for each student. For students who are a bit reluctant to go on their own, we'll actually assign the Lab as part of their work. Our goal is always to get students to be self-learners. So even when we assign the Lab, it's always done in a way that empowers the student.
I like that you will tailor the tutoring what my child needs. How does the lab work?
Each Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 and Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 at least one of our tutors will be available to answer questions. Students are welcome to come into the office for the whole 2 hours or just 15 minutes, if that's all they need. They can practice what they've learned during their private time with tutors and ask questions as they come up.
So we can just come in?
Yes! There's no need to make an appointment. Students will be helped as they raise their hands to ask questions.
Glad to hear it! We look forward to helping!
“Thanks for having the Lab. It's really helpful.
I got so many questions answered!”
~Andrea, Tutoring Up-Grades Student (Wappingers Falls)
I spent many hours in the math lab at college, both getting help and as a tutor. It was such a great resource that I wanted to offer it to Tutoring Up-Grades students too.
In many colleges there are several labs – math, writing, even science. Labs are open certain days and times during the week. They are places where students can go to do their homework. When they have a question, students raise their hand and a tutor comes over to help. Tutors move between students spending a few minutes with each.
We've designed this program with college readiness in mind. There are many resources available in college (and in life) and learning to tap those resources will lead to a more enjoyable, more successful college experience.
This added benefit is available exclusively to current Tutoring Up-Grades students. We're always looking for more ways to help students, and we're really happy to offer the Learning Lab as a great way to help our students stay on top of their school work and test prep.
