COVID-19 UPDATE: We have temporarily switched to a distance learning format. In other words, our office may be closed, but we are still open! We would be happy to assist you in meeting your educational goals. You can schedule a free consultation to evaluate your needs and come up with a custom plan. We’re looking forward to your success!
Would you like to help your child achieve their goals and build a strong foundation for a bright future?
With so many options out there for test prep, it can be difficult to know where to start. Do you sign up for review classes in a large classroom setting? Enroll in an online program? Hire a private tutor? Should you go right out and buy a book? Or ten books? Which ones??
It's easy to become overwhelmed by all these questions, especially since every teen is unique. What works for others might not work for you.
Fortunately, there are some fundamental skills that will help anyone get a better score, and Tutoring Up-Grades has compiled those skills into a condensed, small-group SAT or ACT Intro Course.
While not intended to be a stand-alone, fully-inclusive program, this course will give your child a running start toward SAT or ACT success. They'll also figure out their next step to test-day confidence - practicing on their own, one-to-one tutoring, or anything in between.
By the end of the course your child will be able to...
See how the exam is put together, so they can take it apart (The SAT and ACT are MUCH more predictable than most people realize! We'll help your teen use that to their advantage.)
Think like the people who make the SAT and the ACT, so they can identify the most important parts of each question and take the most effective approach toward solving it
Use their study time efficiently, focusing on the skills that will get them bigger score increases in less time, and practicing the right way so they reinforce good habits while eliminating the bad ones
Better cope with test anxiety and other mental obstacles to success - We cover cutting-edge, easy, and quick techniques to overcome anxiety and improve brain function.
5 2-hour instructional classes, taught by a highly-experienced, trained, and certified instructor: In each class, we use real test questions and examples to help your child understand how to master the most important skills and concepts that come up on every test.
Weekly homework assignments: Hand-picked problem sets that focus on the skills learned in each instructional session, as well as review of past material. Students put their new skills into practice right away so they know how to use those skills, and come back to them at regular intervals to help turn the right skills into good habits. Assigned practice provides accountability. It also builds the confidence that comes with being able to get clear on questions about any "stumpers". All this keeps your child moving in the right direction toward better scores.
Small-group setting (maximum 10 students): In a small group, your child won't get lost in the bunch. They will be able to ask questions and get answers. Students often learn from hearing others' questions.
Tutoring Up-Grades Success Strategies: Specialized strategies for every section of the SAT or ACT with guided practice to learn and implement new skills. Our proprietary materials are developed and constantly updated by people who consistently score in the 99th percentile on both the SAT and the ACT. (Yes - we take the tests regularly, in the same conditions and same locations as current high school students!)
Learning Lab: Weekly open lab for your teen to come in to get additional help. Full access to this great resource where your teen can get extra help with homework, guided practice, and questions between classes.
Official Practice Tests: The most realistic practice tests available, made by the people who make the real exams.
Test-Day Checklist: Easy access list of all the thing you need to have ready for the day of the test, so you don't forget anything and get locked out of the exam.
All this comes together to help increase confidence, skills, and
most importantly – exam scores.
